The Angel Hotel, Midhurst, Sussex
The Angel Hotel & Restaurant has stood in the stunning location by the South Downs since 1652, at which time Charles ll was on the throne, Oliver Cromwell was Lord Protector and the Roundheads were garrisoned in Cowdray Castle, the ruins of which lie directly behind the hotel. Past guests of the Tudor Castle were King Henry Vlll and Queen Elizabeth l, who were served by the castles butler, Guy Faulkes. The Angel is a 400 year old Coaching Inn and in 2009, underwent a total refurbishment and now offer 15 beautiful en-suite bedrooms and 2 huge suites, a first class restaurant, bar and coffee shop absolutely ideal for weddings in Sussex.
The rear part of the Hotel was the Midhurst Magistrates Court up until 1810. Now called the Courtroom, it is our wedding suite, fully licensed for civil ceremonies and partnerships. The Courtroom can accommodate up to 50 guests for a seated banquet and 60 in theatre style for the ceremony. We also have a syndicate room called the Reading Room which connects to our outside courtyard which can be used for drinks receptions, photographs etc.
A very popular package is the 'exclusive use' contract, whereby we offer a very competitive rate for the use of all bedrooms (30 guests) and the Courtroom, therefore transforming the Hotel into your own private party palace.
The service at The Angel is second to none and we look forward to welcoming you in the near future.
